Forward Deployed Engineer - Tokyo

Our client is building cutting-edge, production-grade GenAI solutions and is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed directly with strategic partners and customers in Tokyo. In this high-impact role, you'll act as an "innovator-builder," turning advanced AI prototypes into scalable, enterprise-ready systems, while serving as a key technical bridge between partners, customers, and our client's broader AI product strategy.

In line with their go-to-market approach, AI is positioned as the primary entry point for customer engagement, with broader services introduced as the relationship matures. A highly technical and consultative Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team, established in May 2026, works hands-on with customers to deploy, embed, and drive adoption of AI-led solutions.

Key Skills & Experience

• Cloud computing & technical customer engagement (8+ years) - You'll draw on deep cloud and customer-facing experience to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex AI solutions in real customer environments, partnering closely with technical sales and customer engineering teams.
• AI systems architecture on cloud platforms - From conception to launch, you'll architect production-grade, AI-driven solutions on cloud platforms, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance, while aligning AI-first solution design with the broader cloud strategy.
• Data pipelines, vector databases & RAG architectures - You'll build pipelines for structured and unstructured data, leveraging vector stores and Retrieval-Augmented Generation patterns to power robust enterprise AI applications that become the foundation for expanded cloud usage.
• Technical discovery & solution design leadership - You'll lead technical, consultative discovery sessions with partners and customers, uncovering requirements and translating them into actionable, agentic workflows and AI-first architectures that can be scaled across the customer's wider cloud estate.
• Japanese & English communication - You'll explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and executive Japanese-speaking audiences, while collaborating effectively in English with global stakeholders, including product, sales, and cloud solution teams.
