Sr. BI Developer & Tech Lead

We're hiring a senior, hands‑on BI leader to own the analytics platform in Japan. This role combines deep technical delivery with solution leadership on Microsoft Azure. You'll lead end‑to‑end BI initiatives-building data pipelines in Azure Databricks, designing semantic models, and delivering insights in Power BI. You'll also act as the technical face of BI, partnering with business stakeholders to turn unclear needs into clear, high‑impact solutions.

In this bilingual (Japanese/English), global environment, you'll set BI standards, review code, mentor others, and help position BI as a trusted strategic partner to the business.

Delivery Leadership

• Own end‑to‑end delivery of multiple BI initiatives: scope, priorities, risks, and milestones
• Lead demand intake, backlog prioritization, and sprint/release planning
• Communicate clearly with stakeholders and leadership in Japanese and English

Azure & Data Engineering

• Design and build scalable data pipelines using Azure Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake)
• Architect analytics solutions across ADF, Synapse, ADLS Gen2, and CI/CD
• Optimize performance, cost, and scalability using fit‑for‑purpose data models

Power BI Development & Governance

• Build semantic models, reports, and dashboards that drive real business decisions
• Define and enforce Power BI standards (DAX, data modeling, UX, security)
• Manage deployment pipelines, workspace governance, and Premium/Fabric usage

Python & Analytics Engineering

• Develop Python‑based transformations, automation, and data quality checks
• Use Python for analysis, reconciliation, and pipeline validation
• Apply strong engineering practices: Git, code reviews, testing, documentation

Stakeholder & Business Partnership

• Translate unclear business needs into clear, deliverable BI solutions
• Run regular touchpoints (demos, steering reviews, adoption tracking)
• Frame BI work in terms of measurable business outcomes, not just reports

Technical Standards & Quality

• Set BI development standards for pipelines, models, dashboards, and documentation
• Own testing strategy: data validation, regression, and UAT coordination

• Define and run the BI support model (incidents, SLAs, escalation)
